President Obama Approval Rating Correlates with Tweets

13 Apr

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 22% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Thirty-seven percent (37%) Strongly Disapprove.

Using Tweet Feel which is real-time sentiment from twitter. Tweet Feel gives a numerical score as to how positive or negative tweets are about a given topic. Its analysis is based not just on emoticons, but also words and phrases.

A search for “Obama”  this morning  before his tax reform and debt-cutting plan address to the nation shows a current sentiment of 64 percent Negative. Many of the tweets once analyzed one can identify both facetious and sarcastic tweets that TweetFeel identifies as negative or positive, an example is a tweet such as “Donald trump said obama is the worst president #liespeopletell.” TweetFeel identifies the word “worst” and automatically sets the tweet as negative. Never the less the correlation stands with the current approval rating and  the twitter-sphere making their vocalization about how they feel about a president, brand, or product.

Ultimately, it’s a feature that brands and companies can use to see the sentiment via tweets and get perspective of how people feel about your product, service, or brand.

Tweetfeel defines that as a positive attitude (defined by green text, as opposed to red).

The Job Searchers PPC Conversion

In the current  job searching endeavor which includes using  social media, email, and craigslist has created a very different contingency from 3 years ago when I was last job searching which involved using  companies such as Monster.com, careersbuilders, and local websites that where point of reference for job searchers. The switch from Monsters to Linkedin/Quora has now created in my visual spectrum a Job Searchers PPC Campaign. Which using the right resume structure & strategy can land you an interview. So ultimately this is what your resume looks like if it was a PPC Campaign: Click for better resolution.

How To Write Attractive Resume Using PPC Knowledge

Job searching is like a paid advertising – you invest in your Headline, Description, and Display URL  you get a bunch of impressions and finally you get a conversion in this case a possible interview. “Yes I am claiming this quote”

Just like a PPC  Ad  your text  must be direct and targeted. It is important to include practical information for potential employers, while at the same time bring their attention to features that differentiate yourself from other candidates. If potential employers search resumes with the chosen keywords in their listing, they can check the level of competition for those keywords. A campaign’s resume success or failure depends largely on the quality, target, and keywords of your resume. Resume Structure in a PPC Anatomy

A) Structuring your resume is crucial for effective impressions/viewings.  Characteristics of  excellent account structure follows. An Excellent account structure should be grouped according to Job Description, Job Title, and Geography. Each group should contain multiple Ad Groups with specific keywords that will catch the attention of the employer. For example, a campaign/resume for an  ‘SEM account manager’ position should have separate Ad Groups for ‘Search Engine Marketing’ and ‘client development’. Each Ad Group would then contain experience, education, expertise specific to those Ad Groups with targeted and specific keyword list.

B) Optimization techniques should incorporate monitoring how job descriptions are written by employers and see if your resume/cover letter have similar keywords and texts to implement . In particular,  monitor employers techniques (lingo, keyword, and job descriptions)  to optimize your resume and use social media networking to your advantage, e.g. contact friends, past colleagues, class-mates etc.

C)Relevance is important to achieve a strong resumes viewing , measure of how relevant your resume is to the job description. To create a relevant and effective resume often means revisiting your resume and tweaking where and when necessary.

The Google Art Project & The 21st Century Classroom

14 Feb

I am a big  fan of Google’s constant innovation and particular their new project which is called the Google Art Project. Their new art project is a collaboration between Google and some of the world’s most acclaimed art museums to digitize art work. Powered by a broad, connected suite of Google technologies, these great works of art and museums are now within reach to an unprecedented global audience. Google is brining their streetview technology into the museums to create 360-degree pictures of 17 world wide galleries and 400 rooms. The Art Project also allows viewers to focus on certain works with extreme high resolution and get into detail that is not visible with the naked eye.

Google Art Project allows viewers to create their own galleries by saving the works from different museums under one room and make comments on what you found interesting on each piece. The art project has a share feature that allows people to interact with your social media accounts and get interaction from your friends, followers, etc.

The Google Art Project & The 21st Century Classroom

The Google Art Project will be bringing the adventure of a  free museum tour to the classroom creating a bountiful learning experience for school kids, art enthusiast, and art majors. It is exciting for professors to have the advantage of transporting kids/young adults to explore museums in Spain, Russia, Italy, and around the world. The art project will give students first-hand interaction with museums by learning where they are located, how the art is organized, notes and media from the museum, and the opportunity for classes to make their own galleries while interacting with the chosen pieces. Hopefully the close interactions will ultimately encourage kids to follow art like the internet has encouraged people to read and ultimately promoting culture.  Interacting with media and in this case art is very important factor of the internet that will allow classes to share their galleries, participate in forums, and exchange opinions which really enhances the learning experience.

The Google Art Project is meeting the modern colorful classrooms of the 21st century providing virtual museums for classrooms worldwide.

Mobile Apps That Will Facilitate Your Relocation

7 Feb

Sitting at Petes Coffee & Tea in San Francisco and recollecting thoughts over the last two weeks that have passed since my cross country relocation from Nashville to San Francisco Bay area. I start to recap over  the many challenging situations including an out of the ordinary Bed and breakfast experience (for the sake of the readers will not go into detail), broken down Uhual truck that died literally 10 minutes from the pick up station, countless of apartment visits, checking out local eateries, and finally but not least “IKEA” to name a few of our main activities that involved our move, finding a home, and acclimating to the east bay. In all the major relocation activities we used mobile apps to help reduce stress and increase efficiency in our decision making.

HERE IS A LIST OF THE ANDROID APPS THAT FACILITATED OUR RELOCATION

Google Calendar was one of the most helpful apps that came accross during our search for apartments in the Bay area. I was able to schedule appointments, send alerts, and add my fiancee to any viewing or appointments that we had scheduled. It is easy to input address into Google calendar then input into GPS for fast and almost error free driving.

Being new in the area meant  no idea how to get anywhere; prior to our appointments we would look at Google Maps to get a perspective of where we needed to go and also use the satellite view to get an idea of the neighborhood. A cool addition of  Google Maps is the ability to use it with Google Calendar to send alerts and input address into GPS for time saving and a perspective on the  property.

A great app with a plethora of functionality is Evernote; I have used evernote for wine tasting notes but for our relocation we used Evernote to snap pics and write notes on the visiting property. Evernote makes decision making easy when having to view many properties and having an app that allows you to snap pictures and write notes creates a potential for less mistakes. Evernote also allows a print option and online viewing.

Since my location-based social networking & social companies embrace in 2009, I have been more of a private user and not so social by sharing my locations updates with Twitter or Facebook.I use the tips and “things to do” options that Foursquare provides and it was  a great app to help find restaurants near the area and see what locals recommend.

In the same vicinity as Foursquare or other location based social apps but with more input than other apps, Yelp allows customers to input their experiences and also possess a great location search feature that allows users to search for businesses from were you are currently located without inputting address. Yelp is a great app that allowed me to search for grocery stores, see restaurant experiences, and have a better understanding on the different sociocultural activities and establishments in our new hood.

Goggle is a great Google app that has its focus around your very handy phone camera. Goggle is a great app for transferring business cards to your phone contacts and researching the web by taking a picture of an item of your interest. Goggle was a great source to transfer business cards that were handed to us by bankers, Realtors, or new contacts.

Hope that these apps will help in your everyday live, relocation or just to download and never open again. I am now in the bay adapting and enjoying the weather, food, record stores, great diversity, and all the great wine from Kermit Lynch Wine Merchants.
